RSGB Convention 2017 and Contesting

This past weekend I attended the RSGB Convention 2017 held at the Kents Hill Park Conference Centre in Milton Keynes with Andrew G0RVM. There were a number of lectures that I attended, including a beginners guide to SOTA by Michael Sansom G0POT, How to improve my contest scores and how to work SO2R in contests. I found these talks to be very interesting and I came home with some good ideas to try out.

I have recently joined the RSGB Contest Club and have been taking part in the 80m Autumn Series Club Contests. These are a series of 1.5hr contests, three SSB, three CW and three PSK/RTTY contests held over three months. I have recently started to ‘run’ in the CW contests and Im very much enjoying it, it is also improving my CW copying. The SO2R lecture at the convention was very good and I would like to be able to do some of that once I am more proficient with my CW.
